First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UC Davis.
Student Advisor
The process was pretty streamlined. I had two interviews, one of which was a presentation for different stakeholders, including students. It took about two weeks from when I applied to when I found out about the interview.
- Can you describe your framework for working with students?

Planning and confirming the interview went smoothly, except for a small hiccup where I didn't get the email with the interview details due to a clerical mistake. I had two interview rounds. The first was with directors I'd be working with, in a panel format where questions were passed around. I was asked about 12 questions and got to ask them questions at the end. The whole thing took about 45 minutes. I got a call the next evening saying I'd be moving on to a second interview. Despite another email mix-up with the confirmation, I eventually got the info for my second interview, which was also a panel style. This one lasted two and a half hours. I met with three different groups I'd be collaborating with. I also had to give a presentation. The first group's interview was more standard, with questions going from person to person. The other two groups were more relaxed and conversational. After the second round, the hiring manager wrapped things up, saying we'd hear back once a decision was made. About a month later, I got the job offer.
- Can you describe a situation where you encountered a highly emotional circumstance? How did you handle it and what was the outcome?
- What do you think are the key factors that influence company culture?
- Share an example of a reliable team-building activity.
Consultant
This was an on-campus interview for a consulting job. UC Davis was the host for the employer. It felt a little hurried and the outlook wasn't great given the long line for the interview.
