The interview process was okay overall. Initially, we talked about my interest in the company, my background, and what I expect salary-wise. They confirmed my expectations were within their budget. It was a bit drawn out with four meetings in total. I enjoyed meeting the team, they seemed really passionate and dedicated to their jobs. However, I was offered a position with a salary nearly $25,000 lower than what we discussed initially, which led to an immediate rejection. I was taken aback that the recruiters let the process get so far, wasting everyone's time, including mine. It then became clear that even if they had made a counteroffer (which they didn't), it would be hard to trust a company that doesn't honor its commitments. I suppose it was a bit naive of me to think that after nearly a five-week interview period, they would stick to our agreement.

First, I had to answer 6 pre-recorded questions about UX, and my answers had to be under 2 minutes each in video format. Second, there was a 1-hour case study, followed by meetings with HR and the UX studio Director. Third, a digital Assessment Center, which included a 1-hour group case study and then a 1-hour individual case study preparation, followed by interviews with an UX Researcher and HR from HQ. Finally, an interview with the Lead UI and Production manager.

I had to complete a take-home test related to their project, which I was fine with. Everyone was nice and it felt like a conversation with professionals. I got some helpful feedback on my test task that helped me get better at my skills. They didn't ask me any specific questions about software or UX principles. Their main focus was on understanding my decision-making process and how I approach difficult assignments.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you present your test task and walk me through the UX design creation process?
  • How do you structure your workflow as a UX designer?
  • What's your approach when you have a disagreement with game designers?
