Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ubisoft.
3D Artist
A recruiter reached out and we had an initial get-to-know-you interview. The interviewer was engaged and asked good questions that weren't too technical, as it was just the first round. It was a good experience. They explained the job details well. I didn't hear back after that first interview.
- Would you be open to learning new software?
3D Artist
First, a recruiter will give you a quick call to chat about your background, skills, and if you're interested in the job. Then, for creative roles like this, you might get an art test, like making a 3D model or some concept art to show off what you can do. After that, you'll meet with some team members to talk about your portfolio, your technical skills, and how you solve problems. Finally, you'll chat with studio and HR managers about how you'd fit in with the team and the company's culture.
- Can you describe your 3D creation workflow?
3D Artist
I interviewed with Ubisoft three times for different art roles over about five months. They'd say they'd get back to me soon, but then ghost me for weeks or months, only to contact me for another interview for a different position, which is how I'd find out I didn't get the last job. Since I needed an answer for a new offer I got, I followed up after two and a half weeks. Less than an hour later, they told me I was denied and wished me luck. The recruiter said he coincidentally tried to reach me that day, which is weird because the same thing happened after the last long silence. I'm sure I wouldn't have heard back if I hadn't reached out. The whole process felt unprofessional, unlike other studios I've dealt with.
- What would you do if your art director kept sending your work back to be redone by others, and the issues persisted even after discussing them?
- How would you react to a project being canceled, losing a year or more of your work?
