Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at uberall.
Senior Software Engineer
Had a recruiter chat, took about an hour, and they asked a ton about my background and current job. Then a technical interview where I had to solve a LeetCode-type problem within about 45 minutes.
- Can you detail your backend experience, specifying the number of years and the positions you've held?
- Walk me through your previous and current professional experiences.
- Could you solve a coding challenge similar to those found on LeetCode?
Software Engineer
The interview process included one online assessment and three interviews. The first interview focused on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) of medium difficulty. The second interview covered low-level design, requiring coding in a language of choice. The third interview was a high-level design question followed by a deep dive into my projects.
- Did you have questions about Arrays?
- Did you have questions about Strings?
- Did you have questions about Tries?
Software Engineer
Had an HR call that lasted 30 minutes. Then, there was a leadership discussion with the engineering director and an HR consultant, which was about an hour long. After that, a technical call involved system design questions and a small coding challenge, where I could use my own IDE, search online, and wasn't required to share my screen during coding. This was followed by a call with another director of engineering. Finally, an HR call to discuss the offer. It was a really positive experience with smart and friendly people. At each stage, I had the opportunity to ask questions, making it feel like a two-way street.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- Could you briefly explain what Uberall does?
- If you were the new team leader, what would be your first steps?
