First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TYLin.
Structural Engineer
It started with a phone screen, then there was a virtual interview with PMs. It was a pretty straightforward interview where they asked questions based on my resume, covering things like projects and software I've worked with. I got the results about 2-3 weeks later.
- Can you walk me through your past projects?
- What software have you used in your previous roles?
- Describe your experience with specific software mentioned on your resume.
Structural Engineer
The interview included questions about my background and a discussion about open positions in their various offices. Recruiters requested a follow-up interview, but scheduling attempts were met with unprofessional responses. This firm seems to interview candidates for non-existent jobs just so their recruiters can stay employed. One recruiter was rude and told me to leave the field. Attempts to contact the head of the firm were ignored. The overall experience was unethical and unprofessional, including a 30-minute hold with no response from the corporate office, leading me to believe their internal operations are very poor. I strongly advise avoiding this company.
- Are you willing to accept a senior-level position with a salary of $50,000 per year?
Structural Engineer
The interview started really late, like 30 minutes after it was scheduled because the interviewer was still on a call. When we finally got started, he asked some general questions about me, saying the point was just to see what I'm like. Then he had to leave for another meeting for about 15 minutes. After that, he didn't show me around or introduce me to anyone. He did say he'd call later that day for more detailed questions and hinted at an offer with an agreed salary. The call later on was pretty normal, asking about my experience in design. I emailed a few days later asking to visit the office and meet people, but got no reply. I did get an offer not too long after, but it was about 25% less than we'd talked about.
- What's your experience level with different parts of structural engineering?
