The hiring process kicked off with an HR Manager phone call that lasted about 30 minutes, mainly asking about my background and schooling. After that, I was invited to their location for a two-part interview. The first part was with the HR Manager and the site Safety Director, and the second part was with an HR Assistant and the Plant Manager. The meeting with the Safety Director was the key part since that's who I'd report to. They asked very specific, situational questions, and expected equally specific answers. Some questions felt a bit too personal and made me uncomfortable. The HR manager mentioned Tyco would cover my mileage, and I did submit an expense report afterwards, but never got reimbursed. I never heard back about a job offer or rejection. The last communication was me leaving their facility. I don't think Tyco is a bad company, but the interviewers weren't great and the reimbursement issue felt a bit shady.

I went through 2 rounds for the Service Engineer role. The first was a technical interview, and the second was with HR. They asked me about my past work experience and related job questions. I got some good technical questions about PLSQL and UNIX. They also asked me about my flexibility with the job.

The interview process can be pretty long. You usually don't just get interviewed once and then get an offer. Nowadays at Tyco, the interview process is quite involved. It starts with some screening interviews, then moves on to in-person interviews, followed by second and even third interviews.
