Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Two Sigma.
Product Manager
The interview process started with an initial phone screen, followed by a 45-minute chat with a product manager. This conversation covered my career background, reasons for applying to Two Sigma, and provided an overview of the P&E organization. The final round was quite extensive, involving five separate 1-hour interviews with an engineering leader, two product managers, a client-side/experience manager, and a quant engineer. It felt pretty disorganized because all five interviewers asked similar questions to what had already been asked in previous rounds. I ended up repeating myself a lot. Everyone was nice and respectful, and they seemed engaged, but spending almost 6 hours evaluating a candidate, especially when it seems like the interviews have the same goal and the same feedback is gathered, feels like a waste of time for everyone involved.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your past experiences?
- Walk me through an instance where you brought a product from concept to launch.
- How did you identify the specific problem that your product aimed to solve?
Product Manager
The initial stages of the interview process were manageable, but the on-site interviews were quite tough. It was well-organized though, and they didn't offer much in the way of feedback. I really liked the recruiters and the people I interviewed with. I'd consider applying again.
- Describe your collaboration with engineers.
- Can you tell me about some difficult projects you've been a part of?
Product Manager
Had an HR screen, then a behavioral/case interview with a single PM. Then, an "Onsite" with multiple interviewers and mini-cases. Everything seemed to go well, but I was ultimately rejected without any explanation. It felt like a waste of time, especially since the process wasn't very clear upfront.
- Can you tell me about any technical projects you've been involved in?
- Describe your approach to sourcing data for a product like X.
