First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Two Barrels.
Software Developer
They want a cover letter and portfolio before anything. The job description was a bit unprofessional. Even though they are casual, you still need to be professional. The interviewer didn't show up or forgot until I reminded them, and the call quality was bad. I got rejected at screening and they told me to apply again. I wrote another cover letter, wasted 45 mins, and heard nothing back, not even a rejection.
- Can you describe the most complex stack you've ever constructed?
Software Engineer
It was a weird interview. Right after talking to the recruiter, I had what felt like a final interview. In under an hour, it just became another 'Tell me about a project you worked on' and some behavioral questions. They seemed unprepared, didn't ask much, didn't dig deep, and wasted over 10 minutes at the start.
- Can you describe a project you've been involved in, framing it for an audience of a director and a staff software engineer?
Software Engineer
It all started with a quick 20-30 minute chat with a recruiter who told me about the company and asked about my resume projects. They were super nice! A week later, I got a call to schedule the in-person interview with some of the engineers I might work with. This lasted an hour. We started by really digging into my resume projects, asking detailed questions about the tech and features I used to see how much I knew. Then, they gave me two technical questions that were more like open-ended problems to solve, not typical coding challenges. They weren't too hard, just needed some thought and showing my work. I got the offer within three days. It was a really well-run and fair process, with a good mix of technical stuff and getting to know each other. Seems like a great place to work.
- Can you tell me about your projects as listed on your resume?
