I spoke with an assistant from the department I was hoping to intern with. It was about 20 minutes long. They thought my career goals might be a better fit for another department and referred me. It was really nice of them to recommend me, and I ended up getting an internship with that other department. It all worked out well.

I applied online and then got contacted about two weeks later for a phone interview. The questions were pretty standard and it felt more like a conversation. I didn't talk to HR at all, just the person who would be my direct supervisor. They offered me the job on the same day.
