Turn Software Engineer Interview Questions

Applied online and heard back in a day. An interview coordinator set up an interview with the site Manager. The manager confirmed the date and sent over recruiter info about the company and engineering culture. The first phone call was about 1.5 hours. The manager talked about Turn, answered my questions, and then we did some coding and troubleshooting problems. The manager gave feedback right away and invited me to an onsite interview. Before the onsite, I had to fill out employment info and answer some recruiter questions. The onsite interview was from 10am to 2:30pm and included 3 engineers and the manager. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and I got to chat with the whole team. They told me they wanted to move forward. The manager was great throughout. The next step was usually talking to the team (2 engineers, VP of engineering, and recruiter) in Redwood City. The recruiter was amazing, super engaging and detailed. The recruiter's conversation felt very personal. After each stage, she checked in to see how I was doing and if I'd be happy and grow there. Once they decided, the manager and recruiter worked hard to give me all the info I needed. The recruiter connected me with the SVP and VP of engineering to discuss opportunities and career paths. It was impressive how much effort they put into a junior candidate for a company of 400 people. I had to choose between Turn and another offer, which was tough. I didn't take the Turn offer because the other opportunity had projects that better matched my personal goals. I'd still highly recommend applying to Turn.

The hiring process was smooth and quick. I had two phone interviews, then they invited me for an onsite interview. I met five people there, four of them asked technical questions. The SVP briefly said hello. Afterward, the recruiter discussed the offer with me. I felt comfortable and enjoyed talking with everyone. The interviewers were smart and open-minded; they were fine with my different answers and even taught me things during the interview, which was impressive. The recruiting team is the best I've encountered – very professional and considerate, always trying to help candidates and keep them happy. After I accepted the offer, they sent a gift to celebrate with my family, which was very sweet! I highly recommend Turn for its culture, business model, and technology.

Got referred by a friend, so had an on-phone interview about a week later. They asked me to suggest three different times, and the interviewer picked one. The interview lasted for an hour.
