After getting the contact details from another professor in the Netherlands, I sent an email with my CV to the leader of a research group I was interested in. He forwarded my email to a member of his research staff. I offered to visit the group and give a presentation about my current work, which they gladly accepted. On the interview day, I gave a 45-minute presentation, followed by a 1-hour interview with my potential supervisor, a 30-minute discussion with HR, and a lunch with 4 senior members of the group. They immediately offered me a position and asked for a response within a week if possible.

You can apply to the Professor directly, or check Academic Transfer or use your network to connect. You can also look for openings on the university website. If the Professor is interested, they'll reach out. The process might start with a phone interview, followed by a presentation and then a personal interview. For some roles, they might interview 3-4 candidates to fill the position.

Two conversations were held. The first was with two team members and focused on me, my qualifications, and why they align with the role. In the second round, I had to give a presentation about: 1. what I thought the project entailed, 2. why it appealed to me, and 3. what I would have wanted to achieve after 4 years.
