Field Sales Representative
Started with an informal chat while walking around Home Depot, then a video call with a senior manager, followed by a third interview, also in Home Depot, with a regional manager who reported to the senior manager.
- Do you know what this job entails?
Sales
The interview process was extensive. I had 6 interviews in total, with one in-person and the other 5 via Zoom. Everything was going great until the final interview with the VP. He showed up 20 minutes late for our scheduled 30-minute chat. When he finally started, the interview felt very impersonal and cold. To top it off, he seemed rushed to finish and didn't even give me a chance to ask any questions.
- What did you contribute to your school?
- What are some things you are not good at?
Sales
I went through 7 interviews for this position. It started with a phone call, then a coffee shop meeting, and then a virtual interview that was an hour and a half long with one interviewer, where they asked all the standard interview questions. The next four interviews, 4th through 7th, were supposed to be one panel interview with four people, but they ended up interviewing me separately, so it felt like four individual interviews. It seemed like a lot of extra steps for the role, and the process wasn't very clear as it was happening. It was also strange because other recruiters from the same company kept reaching out for the same job, and I had to explain that someone from their team had already contacted me.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- How do you handle difficult clients?
- Can you tell me some basics?
