I applied for the role on Trustpilot's website and a recruiter got back to me pretty fast. The role is set up so you train with other Account Development Representatives at the same time. The recruiter pushed me to see if I'd give less than two weeks' notice if I got the job, which I agreed to. After my initial phone interview, I met with an ADR manager who asked standard interview questions. Then, I had to do a mock email and a mock cold call. They loved my email and basically said the cold call was just a formality, and they'd bring me back to meet another manager so I could start that Monday. They actually told me that. I did the cold call, which felt pointless, and they said they'd let me know later that day. When I didn't hear back, I figured they weren't offering me the job, since apparently a fake cold call is a good indicator of success in the role. The recruiter eventually called back, but I didn't answer because I was over it. It was a waste of time, and the job is essentially a telemarketing role.

The process started with a screening call from HR, then an in-person meeting in NYC with the director of ADRs and the manager. The manager was unpleasant. After this initial meeting, there were 3 assignments to complete over a few days, where I had to pick a company to pitch Trustpilot to. On the same day I submitted the company for the pitch, I had a mock sales call with the same manager. The HR person said it would take five minutes, but it ended up taking 45 minutes, with three run-throughs. The main critique during the mock sales call was about my understanding of Trustpilot's service, specifically that they 'generate' reviews, not 'gather' them, and that I didn't have specific facts about the company readily available before even starting the job. Based on the manager's behavior, the low income potential (35k base, 55k OTE, with the promoted role maxing out around 70k OTE, likely closer to 55-60k), and the overall toxic environment suggested by other reviews, I decided I wouldn't work there even if offered the job.

There were quite a few steps to pass in the interview process. If you really are interested in the position I would say it's most important to do your research on the company before and be yourself. The management was really nice and if you follow these steps, they will most likely hire you. First, I had a 30-minute phone interview. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview where I met with the recruiter and 3 managers, lasting about an hour. Next, I was given an at-home assignment: a mock email and a task to leave a message for a manager at 8 am. Finally, I was emailed to come in one last time for a half-hour in-person interview with one manager, after which I was offered the position.
