I applied on the TruGreen Careers website and got an email to take an online assessment test soon after. About two weeks later, the local HR person called me for an interview with the GM, HRM, and Regional HR Mgr. It was a chill, informal interview with not many tough questions. After the panel interview, they flew me to the TruGreen testing facility in Memphis. It looked like a normal office from the outside, no company signs. Inside, there were rooms with one-way mirrors so they could watch everything I did. The assessment took all day, eight hours, and was meant to show all my strengths and weaknesses. I was tested with current GM's and other GM applicants. During breaks, I heard some really downer stuff about the company from the current GM's. Most of them seemed stressed and overworked, talking about high turnover and bad customer service. No matter how you do on the assessment, don't expect to hear back. I think a company should at least send a basic email if they don't pick you, especially after spending about $1,000 on travel for the assessment. I figured it wouldn't be a good fit for me.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Had multiple interviews and assessments, both online and in-person, it was very thorough. They asked behavior-based questions, so I made sure to have specific answers with facts and avoid generalities. It started with a phone screen, then an online assessment. After that, I met with the current GM and took another online assessment at the branch. If I passed those, I interviewed with the region HR, then the Region VP. Then there was an assessment in Memphis, followed by an interview with the Division VP.

Behavioral Technical Group Presentation

We started with a phone call for initial questions. Then there was an online test covering personality and management skills. After that, a two-person interview happened in Mississauga, followed by a 9-person panel interview, also in Mississauga. The final stage was a half-day management interview in Memphis, involving role-playing with a group, and expenses were covered.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • As a group, we had a round table discussion on allocating charitable donations among several charities where the total requested amount was more than what was available. We had to discuss each charity and decide how to distribute the money. This was with strangers we had never met, and we were monitored and recorded.
