So the whole interview thing at TrueCar was kinda all over the place and pretty annoying. First, a recruiter hit me up, but she kept pushing back our phone screen calls. When we finally talked, she was super distracted and all I could hear was background noise, maybe her dogs, which was not professional. She didn't explain anything about the interviews or what to expect. Then she passed me to the hiring manager, but because he was traveling, we couldn't even get a phone screen set up for like two weeks. When we finally did get it scheduled, he forgot because he had another meeting, and then it took another week to reschedule. That phone screen with him was super short, just a few minutes where he talked about the job and asked about my background, which the recruiter already covered. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview with him and another woman, not sure what team she was on. They asked me some general questions about my background and how I solve problems. A week later, I got an assignment to do and then present to the hiring manager and the same woman from before. It took a few weeks to hear anything back, and then the recruiter finally emailed to say they weren't moving forward with me. I asked for feedback but never got a response. The whole process was just messy, unprofessional, and totally disrespected my time.

I had 3 phone interviews. The first was with the recruiting manager, who gave more details about the role and process. The second was a longer call with a Senior Director, going deeper into the role, company, and team. The third, with the VP, was shorter and offered another perspective. Then, I received a challenge assignment with analytical and problem-solving questions, due in a week. I could present it however I wanted. After submitting it, I went to TrueCar to present and meet the team. I didn't get an offer, but I was impressed by the time, effort, and care shown throughout the process. I felt good about TrueCar and their recruiting team.
- What's prompting your job search away from your current role?

The interview process started with a phone screening with the recruiter, followed by a call with the hiring manager. If that went well, I was given a homework assignment to finish in 24 hours. Then, I made it to the onsite interview, which included a quick tour. I had three back-to-back 30-minute interviews with six people in total: two hiring managers, two from my department, and two from another department for the role. It was pretty exhausting having to repeat myself so much. I wish I had been better prepared to talk about my skills and qualifications for the role. My issue with this process is that the interviewee has to introduce themselves multiple times, and sometimes important details get missed. I'd prefer one interview with all six people. The interview itself was very conversational, not many questions were asked.

- Regarding the TRUE Car website, have you used it, and what aspects do you think could be enhanced?
