I had 2 technical interviewers, they were really nice. We spent about 5 minutes going over my background. Then, they asked me to draw a complete system diagram for a project I worked on in the past, maybe a cloud setup. We spent a good 30 minutes really digging into it, talking about security, how scalable it was, why I built it that way, and what other options might have been. They then asked me to diagram it again, but this time using microservices. And what if it was event-driven, like using SQS, EventBridge, and Lambda? We wrapped up by talking about AI and specific details about my resume. No behavioral questions came up, and they didn't ask about my code test, which I think I did pretty well on.

My interview process was a bit of a whirlwind. First, I had a department interview on 9/15. One interviewer seemed really into my project and asked a ton of resume questions, even though I felt I stumbled a bit. They did say my resume fit what they were looking for, which felt good. In the second department, no direct feedback, but one interviewer's comment about 'poaching' candidates made me think they were impressed with my learning and personality. HR let me know on 9/17, two days after the interviews, that I passed the first round. Weirdly, it seems like the second interview got skipped because HR had initially mentioned three rounds. The update said I was moving straight to the HR stage for the first department. On Thursday (9/17), I did the HR interview, which was pretty chill, mostly chatting about my resume and personal stuff. HR also thought I might be a good fit for the supervisor role in the first department. HR is off next Monday, so they said they'd call me back Wednesday to Friday (9/24–9/26) at the earliest.

Technical Coding

I got through the online exam and then had a technical phone interview. It was pretty deep on security. They asked a lot about encryption, network security, spotting threats, and security protocols. They really wanted to see if I knew the theory and could actually use security stuff. The whole thing felt organized and professional. The questions were on point for the job and mixed coding with security knowledge. If security is part of the role, make sure your coding and security basics are solid.
