Labeling Specialist
I had 4 interviews for the Labeling Specialist role. The first three went really well. The last one was with HR, who was 15 minutes late and seemed to have already decided about me. She asked some weird questions like why I, being young, would want a fully remote job and if I wouldn't want to socialize with peers. I thought those questions were inappropriate. Even though I was very qualified, I didn't get an offer, likely because of that HR interview.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
- What are your career aspirations?
- Why would someone so young be interested in a remote position?
Associate Marketing Manager
The interview process for this role was quite a letdown. I went through a total of 9 interviews, but unfortunately, I wasn't chosen in the end. A significant part of this involved 6 panel interviews, which felt repetitive, making me wonder if having so many interviewers was really necessary. What was particularly frustrating was that they were aware of my experience level from the start, yet they still proceeded with the extensive interview process without extending an offer. It felt like a waste of my time and definitely gave me a negative impression of their recruitment methods.

Human Resources Manager
I'm applying for an HR Manager job at a plant in Southwestern Ontario. My first interview with an HR Rep went well, it was conversational and I got to share my background. But the second interview with the Plant Manager and another HR Rep was rough. The Plant Manager was hostile and abrasive, told me not to turn my camera on, and asked questions like I had some hidden agenda. The HR Rep was 15 minutes late and repeated questions already asked. At the end, they asked about salary and if no benefits for 2 years would be a dealbreaker, which felt like they were trying to push me away. It felt like they barely looked at my resume and had no interest in me from the start. It wasn't a fair shot, especially for a second interview at a big company. I might not have interviewed perfectly, but future HR folks, be ready for a plant manager with an old-school mindset who might not know much about HR or anything outside of food manufacturing.
- Can you talk about your background?
- In what ways can your experience be applied to this position?
- Describe the most challenging conversation you've experienced.
Quality Assurance Coordinator
I applied through a staffing agency and got a quick call back. My first interview was with the agency, and then I moved on to a second interview with the company's HR. The HR interview was quite confusing, and I left unsure about my standing. After 10 days of no word from HR, I reached out to the staffing agency for an update since I didn't have HR's contact info. Finally, I was called for a second interview with the hiring supervisor, which went really well and I got an on-the-spot offer. They were flexible with my start date, allowing me to give my previous employer the required 3-week notice.
- Tell me about your experience in manufacturing, specifically food manufacturing.
- How proficient are you with Microsoft Office?
- Was it communicated to you that this is a union position?
