Treacy & Company Associate Interview Questions
& Process

It's a pretty standard consulting interview process. There are 2 rounds in total, with 2 interviews in each round. Each interview consists of half case and half behavioral questions. The first round is with managers, and the second round is with more senior team members like partners. For the behavioral questions, they really focus on why you want to work at T&Co, since it's a smaller firm and culture is a big deal.

I applied online via their email, and since I have a Ph.D. and am looking for consulting positions, I was contacted within two weeks to schedule a phone interview. I responded immediately with my availability. However, the Senior Associate who emailed me didn't reply for two weeks. After I sent two follow-up emails, they finally responded and we agreed on a date. On the scheduled date and time, I didn't receive a call and waited 25 minutes past the scheduled time. I tried calling the interviewer's office number from their signature, but there was no answer. About 30 minutes later, I called their cell phone, and they answered, sounding disoriented and apologizing again. I'm unsure if they even had my resume. Nevertheless, we proceeded with the interview. The interviewer was quite rude throughout. The case involved estimating the market for school furniture, and the interviewer frequently interrupted with comments like "Not correct, is that what you will tell clients." The fit portion asked why I was interested in consulting, and before I could fully explain, they interrupted with "if you like what you are doing right now, why not continue." The interviewer then hung up without discussing next steps. After three weeks, I received a generic email from the Office Manager stating I wasn't a good fit. It was a very negative experience overall; they seemed very disorganized.

I applied online after seeing a posting on LinkedIn. Had two phone interviews, about a week to 10 days apart. Then I visited their HQ in Needham, MA for a day. The phone interviews were pretty basic, asking things like why consulting and why Treacy & Co., and went over my resume. During the day on-site, I had several interviews in person and also had to give a presentation of my past work. Even though the interviews themselves seemed to go well, the vibe from the interviewers made me feel like I wouldn't get an offer. They were generally nice, professional people, though.
