Treacy & Company Interview Questions
& Process

It's a pretty standard consulting interview process. There are 2 rounds in total, with 2 interviews in each round. Each interview consists of half case and half behavioral questions. The first round is with managers, and the second round is with more senior team members like partners. For the behavioral questions, they really focus on why you want to work at T&Co, since it's a smaller firm and culture is a big deal.

It started with a recruiter call. Then I met with an Engagement Leader and a Principal at their Needham offices. The final interviews were a marathon of 8 x 45 minute meetings over 6 hours at the same offices. It included a presentation to everyone, even people from earlier rounds. I got some guidance on the presentation topic beforehand. Honestly, it was too intense, I think they should have scheduled breaks. They also took a while to get back to me. I did enjoy meeting the people at Treacy and Company, and the process overall. I'd say check them out.

The first round was a phone interview. I started by walking through by resume and then moved to the case questions. Qn 1 was a standard market-sized question on number of desks in all the high schools in the US. Not hard, but I did not do well under the pressure. Qn 2 was a typical case question. It was on Star buck's reducing revenue due to the financial crisis in 2008. You are required to analyze the reasons for the decreasing revenue as well as provide strategies to reverse the trend. It should not be hard if you have done some preparations.

I applied through a campus posting, sending in my resume and a cover letter. Then I had two initial phone interviews. The final round was a week later, in person, with about 5-6 interviews. It was great speaking with Michael Treacy and Rob Bell (a partner), that was the best part of the whole process. They let me know the same day and I had a week to decide. It was mostly consulting case interviews, but they also asked some questions about my resume and background. The final round was more about personality and fit, but there were still a few cases, some with interactive parts where you'd get slides and had to figure out what they meant for the case, and sometimes you'd have to write on a whiteboard.
