Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TRC Companies.
Environmental Engineer
The first interview was pretty straightforward. Since it was an internship, it focused more on what I learned in classes rather than actual work experience. They asked a few questions and I got a good sense of what the job entailed.
- Can you tell me about your favorite and least favorite classes, and the reasons behind your choices?
Civil/Structural Engineer
I had a quick phone chat, then went for an on-site interview. The on-site consisted of three parts: first, I presented on my past work. Then, the manager and a senior engineer asked me some questions. Finally, they took me to see some of the projects they are currently working on.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- Given your PhD, why did you decide to pursue an industrial career instead of an academic one?
- Do you have any questions about the basic work involved?
Civil Engineer
I had a phone screen on Monday, and then my main interview on Friday. Got the offer the following Monday. It was a pretty standard interview, but I passed on the role since they weren't flexible on location (most places are remote now because of Covid) and the offer wasn't as high as I wanted.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
