Graduate Engineer
After you ace the online aptitude tests, you might get invited to an interview. This interview involves a presentation you'll give to a panel. The panel consists of a recruiter, the hiring manager (who was a senior engineer when I interviewed), and someone currently in the grad program. They'll give you the presentation details about a week beforehand. The whole interview doesn't take more than 15 minutes. After your presentation, they might ask you a couple of follow-up questions.
- Craft a sales pitch about yourself, explaining why you're the ideal candidate for our Graduate Program. What makes you stand out from others, and what contributions can you offer to both the Graduate Program and Transport NSW to benefit the organization?
- Given Transport for NSW's goal to foster a vibrant future in regional areas by strengthening the regional workforce, particularly in the Entry Level Talent Market, how would you boost the attractiveness of working in Regional NSW for young individuals?
- Tell us about yourself and why you're a good fit for our Graduate Program. What makes you unique compared to other candidates? How will you benefit the Graduate Program and Transport NSW?
Graduate Engineer
It started with an online psychometric test focusing on language. Then there was a group of three more psychometric tests covering numerical, analytical, and another area. After that, I had a multi-mini interview where I had to answer four questions, with five minutes for each. They really wanted us to use the S.T.A.R. method for the answers. I got feedback later that two of my answers weren't structured well using STAR, but the other two were pretty good.
- Can you share an instance where you received criticism? How did it affect you, and what actions did you take in response?
- What does diversity mean to you?
- Describe a project you initiated and managed all the way to its conclusion.
Graduate Engineer
First there was an online assessment with number and word games. After that, a video interview where I had to record myself answering a couple of questions about my motivation. Finally, a 20-minute face-to-face interview with two interviewers.
- Which core value related to transportation do you feel best represents your own?
