They asked me about my AI experience and my experience with Prompt engineering. The interviews had two rounds. First was an HR phone screening, and the second was more technical, but no coding tests were involved.

Technical Coding

The interview process was a direct in-person technical interview with four interviewers. The interview mostly involved random language-specific trivia. When asked about whiteboarding code challenges, they rejected pseudocode and Python as acceptable languages, which was unexpected. There were virtually no logic puzzles. The manager was quite rude, even arguing about the tech stack my current company should have used. This felt like a very strange interaction. When asked about what they liked about Transcore, the manager's initial response was "I have a team that I get to tell what to do," followed by an awkward chuckle from him and silence from others. It seemed like he was trying to be funny but it came off as very uncomfortable. The other employees didn't answer. He might not have realized how he came across, but the overall atmosphere felt incredibly uncomfortable, unlike top tech companies in San Diego like Qualcomm, Illumina, and Amazon, which are friendly and focus on overall intelligence rather than niche trivia. I would consider a different industry before joining Transcore.

Technical Behavioral

I first talked to Transcore supervisors Calvin Kuo and Stephen Finn back in June 2000. They asked good, thorough questions and gave good responses, making me feel positive about a potential job offer. I'd be happy to interview with them again. A recruiting agency (Co-Telligent, later Comsys) referred me and handled the initial salary talks.
