The hiring managers, Sasha and Tori, were super nice and quick to respond, sending an invite to schedule a call the very next day after applying. My first chat with Sasha was chill and lasted about 45 minutes. She asked about why I'm interested in the company, my past work, and what I like and don't like about being a PM. Then she explained the company, how teams work, and gave me a project for the next stage. The project involves creating a Lean Product Management business case to hit some revenue and rooftop targets. There's tons of market potential, so coming up with product ideas is easy. The next interview was with Taylor, the Product Director. It was a Zoom call, but usually, it's in person. He wanted to see real examples of how I handle situations, present to leaders, and work with developers. He asked some good questions about normal PM stuff. Finally, I had to present my project, and I'd suggest using visuals instead of just reading a document. They move really fast, so you'll hear back within days about the next steps. Seriously, they're quick, which is awesome. Just be yourself and show them what you're capable of!

The interview process kicked off with a call from the People team for an initial screening. Next, I had an hour-long interview with the hiring manager, which included a project assignment. Following that, I presented my project to the team and met more people. The project was enjoyable and a bit challenging due to time constraints, but it was a great way to show how I build products from start to finish. They needed to fill the role quickly, so the process was fast. Unfortunately, the position was filled by someone else. However, the Trainual team was very professional and kept the door open. About a month later, another product role opened up, and we were able to continue our conversation from where we left off, which was great since I had already met many of the team and invested time in the process. I was impressed and relieved not to start from scratch. Since then, I've met everyone on my team both virtually and in person over lunch. This was one of the best interview experiences I've had with a company of this size. I'm really impressed that Trainual uses its own product for feedback, giving interviewees a feel for the product they might be working on. Everyone I've interacted with seems intelligent, approachable, and genuinely aligned with the company's goals.

The recruiter was nice. I spoke with some VPs who seemed to really enjoy talking about their podcast. I think I would have done better if I'd researched the company more. They didn't think I was a culture fit, so I didn't get an offer. The recruiter did follow up quickly.
