It was a multi-step process where I had to go through my design portfolio. I had to explain my reasoning and thought process behind my projects. Being knowledgeable in the advertising field and knowing some industry examples is helpful. Everyone was really nice and understanding, so you got this!

Since I was in school, the interview was conducted over Skype. I spoke with several people from the account service team. The first two interviews were 30 minutes each, followed by a 15-minute chat with the intern manager, and a final 15-minute interview with an account service executive. It was a pleasant conversation. The first two interviewers were more interested in getting to know me generally, rather than asking specific questions about my skills or behavior. A lot of the discussion focused on the thought process behind our NSAC campaign. A couple of questions, like 'Define creativity, strategy,' caught me off guard. Overall, it was a good experience, though I wish I could have met them in person.

I submitted my application online and was contacted via email. They invited me to their Dallas HQ for an in-person interview during the week of March 12th. Since I don't live near Dallas and was on spring break in Florida that week, I flew to Dallas for a couple of days to interview. The interview started with a one-on-one with the recruiter, which I think went okay. Afterwards, I was taken to a lounge area for an interview with 6 other people who were young associates. The vibe was more casual than usual. It started with one person, then others joined and left, so I was usually talking to 2-3 people at a time. The conversation flowed really well, and I felt I connected with everyone, having professional yet lighthearted chats. During one answer, two interviewers said it was the best answer they'd ever heard and appreciated my passion and thoughtfulness. As it wrapped up, they said they enjoyed getting to know me and were impressed. I felt very confident leaving, especially with their positive feedback. I sent thank you notes to everyone the next morning. I was told I'd hear back by early April. By April 5th, I hadn't heard back and had received another offer. I would have declined it if I got an offer from TracyLocke. I emailed the recruiter to check on the timeline since I had a deadline with the other company. They then informed me I didn't get the internship, which surprised me. I sent a professional email thanking them and asking for feedback, but they never replied.

I really bombed this interview! I went through 5 interviews, but they ended up sending me home after the fourth one. It was pretty embarrassing. My advice is to be professional at all times. I sent a follow-up email, and they were nice enough to tell me that my casual attitude was a major red flag and an immediate disqualifier for the hiring team. You might think I'm an idiot, but I was actually picking up on their vibe. Reading people is my job, and I'm pretty sure it was a test. They've got young people with nerf guns and empty beer bottles on their desks, but don't let that fool you. Even though they might use casual language like 'awesome' and 'totally,' stick to your professional vocabulary. They use self-deprecating humor, but you shouldn't. I've been in sales for 5 years and never been called unprofessional. Take this seriously: firm handshake, good posture, and always sell yourself. It's a shame I won't get to work with such a great company. I hope this review helps others who might need it.
