First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tractor Supply.
Store Manager
It was a long process, 5 interviews over 6 weeks after the initial HR email. I applied online and heard back three weeks later for a phone interview. After passing that, I had a face-to-face with the district manager (DM). It was pretty relaxed, and after they asked questions, they explained the day-to-day operations and mentioned it's an extensive process with several interview rounds. Next, I interviewed with a store manager, then had another phone interview with a different DM, followed by a phone interview with the regional vice president (RVP). Everyone I spoke with was great and passionate about the company. What really impressed me was the company's rapid growth (1500 to 2500 stores), their strong core values, and the DM seemed like a manager who would support their team.

Store Manager
I applied through the company website three times for different roles and locations. About two weeks after my last application, a regional recruiter reached out. We scheduled a phone interview for a few days later that ended up lasting over an hour. It was a very thorough and detailed conversation, and I wasn't sure if my answers were hitting the mark because the recruiter was typing everything down, leading to some awkward silences. My responses were apparently passed along so they wouldn't have to repeat questions. Six days later, the area manager emailed to set up an in-person interview at his office. This interview was more about getting to know me and lasted about 50 minutes. The day after that, the recruiter sent a form email letting me know I wasn't selected for the position.

The first interview was with a District Manager. The second one was with both the Store Manager and the District Manager. Then, for the third interview, two District Managers were present. The fourth and final interview also had two District Managers in attendance. The interview focused on previous experience in driving sales, team building, and understanding of P&L.
