First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Traction on Demand.
Software Engineer
I had a regular phone interview first. Then, there was a zoom meeting where I was asked to create a library system using Salesforce, and I also integrated it with AWS. The UI wasn't perfect, but the functionality was solid. After that, I had another zoom meeting with two young developers who were quite disrespectful and laughed at my system. I felt it was a shame given my 20 years of experience in software development to be interviewed by such unprofessional staff. It's disappointing to be treated this way, especially when trying to advance in one's career.
- What is your motivation for choosing Traction on Demand?
- Could you detail the development process for the system you created?
Software Developer
Started with a phone call to go over my background and why I was looking to move on from my current job. A few days later, I had an in-person interview. They really emphasized "culture fit" over skills, talking about how they are a "good fit" and the cool stuff they do. If you get past that, they ask for a code portfolio, expecting you to have a GitHub profile ready. The next step after the in-person interview is a meal (lunch or breakfast) with potential future coworkers to gauge team compatibility. They seemed hesitant when I asked about their new QA team and why I didn't test my own code. They also lost interest and started on their phones when I inquired about work/life balance, suggesting they're looking for people they can quickly burn out but keep happy with beer.
- What's your approach when faced with a heavy workload and a looming deadline?
Software Engineer
The interview process included a Coding Round, an Interview Round, a Demo round, and a Culture round. In the Coding Round, the questions were of a decent level. The Interview Round focused on in-depth knowledge of OOPS concepts (writing code snippets), good Java knowledge (a project in Java is a plus), discussing better approaches for previously solved coding questions (considering Time and Space complexity), and database knowledge related to projects on your resume. The Demo round gave a 2-week timeframe to work on something, with QnA sessions when you shared your project. The Culture round (HR Round) involved basic personality-based questions.
- Questions about Java and OOPS concepts.
