First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tractebel.
Post Graduate Engineering Trainee
The interview at Tractebel covered a wide range of core structural engineering subjects, including RCC design, earthquake engineering, and foundation engineering. Questions tested both theoretical understanding and practical application, focusing on design concepts, analysis methods, and real-world problem-solving skills.
- Could you outline the steps for designing an isolated footing?
Project Engineer
The process kicked off with a recruiter chat to gauge my background, what drives me, and my soft skills. Next, a technical discussion with the project lead happened, checking my tech knowledge, past experiences, and how I'd tackle specific job-related problems. Each part took about 45 mins and included open-ended questions and case studies.
- Tell me about a challenging project you managed and how you handled it.
Sales Manager
I applied on their website by leaving my CV and writing a cover letter. Then, I got a call for a Teams meeting with HR. After they decided I was the right fit, I had a conversation with the manager. Finally, I had a chat with the person I would be working closely with (the operational manager) to see if we would click.
- Why did you apply for this position?
- Are you stress resistant?
Nuclear Engineering Trainee
Applied for the job and got called back the next day. The first interview was in Belgium. It had two parts: a background and strength-based interview with a really good interviewer, and a "technical" interview with someone who seemed like a stress test. They told me the salary (2500€ Gross / 1600€ net), which was very low, so I wasn't very interested but kept it as a backup. They wanted me to go to Belgium again for an interview with seniors, but I asked if Skype was possible and they agreed. Two seniors interviewed me, one seemed like 'good cop' and the other 'bad cop'. It was background, strengths, and a description of the job duties, which seemed way above the pay grade. I got an email saying it went well, but then they called me almost two weeks later saying they filled the position because I applied too late, which I don't think was true.
- Can you provide three of your strengths?
- What are three strengths you possess?
