TPP Specialist Interview Questions
& Process

I applied online through their website via Indeed and it took about 3-4 weeks to hear back. I received a phone call from a 'Product Support Specialist' who was really enthusiastic and asked when I was free for an interview since the company was 'expanding and taking on a lot of new staff'. We scheduled the interview for a couple of months later (September 2019) because I was finishing my MSc. When I arrived, the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Someone came shortly after to ask about my travel expenses. Then a woman came and introduced herself (I shook her hand, which seemed to perplex her?). She took me into a large office space with about 20 desks where people were talking loudly over each other. We went into a small office, and she asked me around 5 or 6 simple questions, like 'How do you deal with difficult clients' and 'Why do you think you'd be good at this job?'. She also asked a riddle/puzzle question that seemed pointless. The whole thing lasted about 20 minutes and was the most unprofessional situation I've ever experienced. I felt really overdressed and uncomfortable in my smart dress.

I recently interviewed for the Implementation Specialist job at TPP and it was a really good experience overall. The process was organized and quick, and I felt like I got to show off my skills and how I solve problems. First, there were some online tests to check my analytical and logical thinking. They were tough but fair and gave a good idea of the job. Then, I had an in-person interview at their office with a nice and professional group of people. They asked me questions about problem-solving and different situations related to the role. The interviewers were interested and helpful, pushing me to think hard and explain my thoughts. They also told me about the company culture and what the Implementation Specialist does, which made me even more excited about the job.

So I saw all the negative reviews about this company, but I really wanted to see for myself if things would be different. The job itself seemed perfect for me, matching my experience and my interest in healthcare, so I applied anyway. Even though I knew I'd be one of the few people of color, I thought it would be a good opportunity. The first part of the interview went fine, with two Product Support Specialists asking about my education, qualifications, and some probability questions. Then, I was moved to another room to talk with the founder and a head director. That's when things took a turn. The founder immediately commented on my skin color, asking where I was from, acknowledging it was illegal but asking anyway. I was confused and explained my ethnicity and where I'm from, even though I hadn't visited. They admitted they hadn't looked at my CV and didn't ask anything about it. While I was talking, the CEO pointed out a head movement I made, comparing it to how people dance in India. I was uncomfortable and surprised by the discrimination and microaggressions in what should be a professional setting. I didn't know how to react, so I just laughed it off. I left feeling disrespected and confused, unable to believe this kind of thing still happens. I'm very disappointed and hurt. Despite the job's perks, I wouldn't recommend applying.
