First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TP ICAP.
Intern
I applied online and heard back from the recruiter super fast, like the next day. They set up an in-person interview pretty quickly, which was confirmed with a Google Calendar invite. The interview itself had pretty standard questions. It took a whole month to hear back after the interview, and I only got an update because I followed up. Kind of funny, they emailed me a rejection for the internship, and then a few days later asked if I was still looking for an internship.
- Could you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- What would you say you can contribute to our team?
Intern
Applied through my university and was selected for a phone interview. Phone interview questions were all pretty standard behavioral questions. The interview at their office was divided into a testing phase, a group project, and a panel interview. Overall nothing was exceptionally difficult, but I will say that the people I talked to there all seemed rather cold. One yelled at me for writing my name on my scan tron form before the test, and no one had the slightest interest in talking during our break time. I might have just been their on a bad day, but I am not sure this is a company I would want to work for.
- In the group portion, we were tasked with presenting a company as an investment opportunity.
Intern
I applied online and went through three stages. First was a phone interview with an HR person where they asked basic behavioral questions, which was pretty easy and conversational. Then, I had an interview at ICAP HQ in Jersey City, which involved more behavioral questions that were somewhat easy and no technical ones. Finally, there was an assessment center at HQ, also in Jersey City. This had two tests: a trading simulation with simple calculations (very easy) and a difficult math test. It ended with a group project where we had some time to gather info and then present it.
- Can you share an instance where you had to persuade someone to buy something?
