First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toys "R" Us.
Financial Analyst
We did a company campus tour, followed by three separate one-on-one interviews. They also had a panel, a presentation, and a hands-on activity where we had to build a lego toy and then present it.
- Can you discuss your background, professional experience, and personal life?
- Could you please analyze this case scenario?
Financial Analyst
Applied through school. The first step was a 45-minute interview with a Manager in the Finance department, and I heard back the next day. Then, I received an exercise with two parts: summarize sales data for two years in 1-2 slides and forecast sales for half a year. Two Managers reviewed the submissions, and I heard back in a couple of business days. The final step was an all-day event at Headquarters, which included three 45-minute interviews back-to-back and networking opportunities with current employees. I heard back in 2-3 business days. They give you a lot of opportunity to ask questions, so prepare many! They were watching us closely and considering each of us carefully. Overall, it was a very positive experience with super friendly and professional people.
- Can you evaluate the feasibility of opening a new store abroad?
- What criteria would you use to determine the threshold for free shipping on online purchases?
- Tell me about a situation where your initial analysis turned out to be incorrect.
Financial Analyst
I interviewed during an on-campus recruiting event. The entire interview process was about 20 minutes long. They asked several questions about my background, which was pretty standard. Some company-specific questions included what Toys R Us means to me personally, and my thoughts on the company's future direction. The interviewer was really nice and easy to talk to.
- What is your personal connection to Toys R Us?
- What are your thoughts on the future direction of the company?
