First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toyota North America.
Buyer
The interview process was straightforward. They started with behavioral questions, then moved to a quick case study about comparing three suppliers. The interviewers were pleasant and asked insightful follow-up questions to both the behavioral and case study parts.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
Purchasing Specialist
The whole process took over 4 months from the first recruiter call to the offer. I had 3 phone interviews with 2 recruiters and then an onsite with 2 managers and someone observing. They started by explaining their work and the role, then asked me to walk through my resume and answer questions about highlighted points. Next were STAR questions, a quick 2-question test on purchasing fundamentals, and then I got to ask my questions. Expect 2-6 weeks of silence between stages. Surprisingly, I heard back from the first recruiter just 2 hours after the onsite, hinting at an offer. I got the offer a week later. The pre-employment stuff took up to 6 weeks after I accepted.

Procurement Specialist
They used STAR questions during the interview process. It was a long process and they ultimately did not extend an offer, which was surprising given my 20+ years of experience. I'm not sure what they were looking for.
