So the first part was with the hiring manager for about an hour. They hit me with three pre-written behavioral/situational questions, and I had to answer them using the STAR method. It was super formal. Then, a week later, I had a 60-minute session with a panel of peers from another team. Each of them asked me another STAR-formatted behavioral/situational question. But here's the weird part, none of them could actually talk about the job itself. It felt more like a test of how well I could follow the format, since my actual work experience went way over their heads. Honestly, it was pretty frustrating. Another week after that, I had a 30-minute chat with the hiring manager's boss. This was the most genuine interview. They told me to ditch my notes and script and just talk about why I wanted the job, why I'd be a good fit, and what they'd expect from me. That was actually the most enjoyable part of the whole thing.
- Tell me about a time you helped a customer or client reach a key organizational objective.
- Describe a situation where you had to make a significant decision without having all the necessary information.
- Can you provide an example of a recent work situation where you initiated a change and what the outcome was?

Had a 15 minute qpone screen, then a 45 minute call with the hiring manager. They asked about my qualifications, why I want to work there, and why I'd be a good fit. The annoying part was being asked about Python proficiency twice, once in the screen and again with the hiring manager. I said no both times. The hiring manager said it was a deal breaker and he only talked to me out of curiosity about my background. Total waste of time.
- Are you proficient in Python?

The experience was really professional and positive. It kicked off with a quick recruiter call, asking super basic stuff like 'why Toyota?'. Then, I had a phone interview with a few national managers. They were really nice and friendly, even when I messed up some answers! They did give a quick study guide beforehand and I looked up common questions online, but they still surprised me with the first question, which I didn't have a solid answer for. There were maybe 3 real interview questions, the rest was about the job itself and discussing the role.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to take the right action even though it wasn't the popular choice? Please use the STAR method to explain.
