First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toyo Tire North America.
Manufacturing Technician
So I was invited for what they called a group interview, but it was really more like a 3-4 hour test. It had four sections: math, personality/psychological, technical aptitude, and reasoning. The catch is, every section is timed, and even reading the directions eats into that time. This was tough for me because I have dyslexia and read slower, so I ran out of time on every section and couldn't finish. Before the test, they mentioned the shifts are 12 hours long, and the 'third shift' I applied for is 7pm to 7am, which is different from the usual later start time. The math part was basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, and weirdly, no calculator allowed, even though they say you can use one on the job. For the dress code for this 'group interview' test, it wasn't business casual like I'm used to; a lot of people wore jeans and t-shirts, which I wouldn't personally do for any interview, but whatever.
- Regarding the picture of two clocks, one with a short pendulum and one with a long pendulum, which one was faster?
Manufacturing Technician
At first, the process was pretty well put together. I was set up to complete an assessment test, and then I had an interview. After the interview, they said I'd know something back within 4 weeks. It's been 5 weeks, and I got a call from someone in HR who asked me to call her back. I tried calling her more than 25 times, leaving my name and number each time, but I never got a response.
- Would you be open to working a rotating shift schedule?
Manufacturing Technician
The interview involved basic questions about the job, including discussions about the work schedule and salary. The schedule is three days on and two days off, with the schedule provided a year in advance. There are ten paid holidays. The position is for the night shift. Benefits include a 401k and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, with four plan options available.
- How many days off per year should an individual take?
