First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Totango.
Account Executive
I got into the process because the CRO was recommended by an old boss and reached out to me directly. The interview process was straightforward. Throughout the entire process, the leadership team at Totango was happy to answer all my questions and we made sure it was a good mutual fit at every stage. It was a really nice, collaborative experience – they focused on finding the right person for the job and also making sure the job was right for me. Dennis the CRO is fantastic, and so are the Head of Sales Enablement, VP Sales, and CPO. It's really exciting to join such a happy, positive, and driven team. GO TOTANGO!

Recruiter
First, you'll have to take a long personality test and a cognitive/SAT-style test before the actual interview process begins. The cognitive test was tough, with 50 critical-thinking questions to answer in just 12 minutes, and they didn't seem related to the job. The process started with a 30-40 minute phone screening with someone from Totango's TA team. After that, I received assessment tests via email. Once completed, I had 3 more interviews over a week with different people. I finished my last interview but never heard back, even after following up three times with two recruiters. It seems like the interviewers weren't coordinating, as I was asked the same questions multiple times.
- Describe a challenging hiring manager you've encountered.
- Can you detail your complete recruiting process from beginning to end?
- Tell me about the toughest job requisition you've recruited for.
Onboarding Specialist
This interview process was pretty disappointing. Most interviewers were late, and they didn't seem very engaged, often checking their messages on Slack/Teams, which was honestly a bit sad. The last stage involved a presentation with really vague instructions. They said not to worry about knowing everything and to only spend an hour on it, but then they asked super detailed questions as if I was already an employee who should know the program inside out. It was really a letdown, especially since I'd heard good things about this company.
- Can you elaborate on the program's details?
- Could you explain your understanding of the program?
- What were your takeaways from the program?
Customer Success Manager
It was a really long process. An internal referral was submitted, but I didn't hear anything back. I followed up with the employee who referred me, and after a few tries, they were told hiring was paused, even though jobs were still posted. But then, a recruiter reached out. The recruiter had me talk to a cofounder first, not the hiring manager. After that, I had to do personality and skills assessments. Then, I met with three people who would be my peers in similar roles. The last person I met had a Director title, and it wasn't until we were talking that I realized I wouldn't be reporting to them.
- Each meeting was 30 minutes to 1 hour long, and the questions were extensive and detailed.
- At no point did anyone clarify who managed the group, despite me asking probing questions.
- There were unusual gaps in communication, even though I was told the timing was urgent.
