Store Manager
I applied for two positions and got a recruiter call within a few days. I then had a Teams interview scheduled with the DM for the next day, and another with the SM the day after that. This involved discussing my field experience.
- Could you tell me about your background?
Store Manager
I originally applied for a Store Manager position, and had a preliminary call with a recruiter where I talked about my 5 years of experience as a store manager. The interview was supposed to be in person but got rescheduled to a Zoom call with the District Manager. It turns out they weren't actually hiring for a Store Manager and the role was for an Assistant Manager. They explained the job would involve 10-hour shifts, hourly pay, and unlimited overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The benefits were attractive, but I decided not to pursue it because it felt like a step down. It was disappointing to apply for one role and find out they were recruiting for a different, lower-level position.
- Can you share an instance where you attempted to counsel an employee, but it didn't work out, leading to their termination?
- Describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging customer.
Assistant Store Manager
The recruiter reached out and I sent over the requested info, and we scheduled an interview. The interview was quite long, nearly 2 hours. The recruiter mentioned sending an assessment and other materials, but they never arrived. I followed up via email about the assessment and job availability, but received no reply. About a month later, the recruiter called to check if I was still interested and admitted to receiving my assessment. I clarified that they never sent it and never responded to my email. After apologizing, they immediately sent the assessment. I completed it the same day and emailed to confirm, but again, no response. I sent another email a week later with no reply. The communication from them was very unprofessional and needs improvement for the company to succeed.
- Could you share why you are seeking to leave your current role?
- What is your present salary?
- Describe your management style.
