The whole process had 3 stages. The first one was super easy and was about my soft skills and general motivation. Then, the second stage was a presentation about a past technical project I did, where some engineers from Toshiba would listen and judge my presentation skills, and also ask more questions. The last stage, if I passed the first two, was supposed to be at the HQ in Japan.

The hiring manager was approable and the interviewers were kind. They asked personal questions and my thoughts about moving to Japan from overseas. Overall, it was an interview that was not very technical. This is for the global recruit role.

I was contacted by a recruiter at Toshiba about an opening for this unique job with a lot of travel. I confirmed my interest and had an initial phone interview with the recruiter that was informational and checked my basic experience. Then, the hiring manager contacted me for another very informal phone interview, mainly to explain the job requirements (a large time investment in the spring and fall) and ensure I was aware of that and wanted to continue. Finally, there was a third and last in-person interview with a panel of 6 engineers from different areas, where I was asked in-depth questions about my past projects and got the rest of my questions answered.

  • Are you comfortable with being on call during spring and fall?
