First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions.
Senior Java Developer
First, there was a quick chat with the team lead about the role and what it entails. Then, a technical interview that lasted about 1.5 hours, which included a coding task done in my own IDE with screen sharing.
- Could you explain the difference between optimistic and pessimistic blocking?
- Can you describe how Java streams function?
Software Architect
The process kicked off with a call from the recruiter, and then there was a technical discussion. It's kind of hard to know what's going on with the interview process, especially since they don't share feedback on how you did. I've asked a bunch of times for some feedback to help me get better and see where I can grow, but haven't heard anything back.
- Can you explain the event-driven architecture pattern?
- What are your thoughts on decoupling and asynchronous integration patterns?
Software Test Engineer
The interview process usually has three steps. First, you'll chat with HR about whether you're a good fit for the company culture and your work history. Then, the Hiring Manager will likely talk to you about your technical skills, what you've done before, and if you're a good match for the job. Lastly, you'll meet with the Test Team, where they might give you a practical test, ask some technical questions, or have you solve problems to see how you work and if you have the skills needed.
- Can you share your experience?
QA Manager
It was a four week process. First round was a screening with a recruiter who was pretty rude and wouldn't answer my questions, just told me to ask the hiring manager. They also pushed for my salary expectations but wouldn't share their budget. Second round was with the hiring manager, who seemed nice but tired. I did get a salary budget number from them though. Third round was a panel with some managers. Fourth round was with the hiring manager's boss. The recruiter kept calling me to set up interviews instead of emailing, even after I asked. I didn't get a written offer, just a verbal one, and they wanted me to quit my job immediately. I pushed back and asked for a salary increase within the budget. A week later, no response. Another week passed, and on the original start date, I emailed again, copying the hiring manager. The recruiter then said they went with someone else. They never even told me directly. If you get an offer, make sure it's written before you quit your job.
- What salary range are you looking for?
