Store Manager
It took about 2 weeks after applying to hear back. The interview lasted 2 hours and I felt comfortable even though it was in the storage room. I like how they really drove the idea of building culture.
- What value can you add to the team?
Store Manager
The whole thing took about two weeks and was super frustrating. The application portal didn't work right, and I had to chase corporate to fix it so I could even apply. Then, the regional manager missed our scheduled interview and didn't even have my resume when we finally talked. After that, the district manager was almost 20 minutes late for our interview and didn't know what my previous role as a department manager involved, even though she had my resume. It felt like a lot of red flags. Honestly, I don't think they really intended to hire me, but they mentioned they were looking for potential future employees as they grow. I guess they picked up on my skepticism about the company and the position. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't get the job because I probably would have gotten fed up with their lack of direction and support. It's an hourly manager role, and the most they'd pay was 40k, which isn't very competitive. They also mentioned I might be on the sales floor by myself a lot.
- Can you share an experience where you exceeded expectations for a customer?
- Tell me about a situation where you were unable to make a customer happy.
- Walk me through a time you dealt with a challenging employee.
Assistant Store Manager
I went through two interviews, one with the hiring manager and one with the manager of the store I was applying to. It was a pretty standard interview process where we discussed general management concepts and specific scenarios I might face daily, asking about my past experiences in those situations. The communication was the main issue; I started this process in March and it's now August, and I was repeatedly told I'd hear back within a certain timeframe but never did. It felt like I had to chase people down to get updates, which was excessive even for going the extra mile. I was disappointed because I admired their corporate structure but had such a poor experience with a basic part of customer service.
- Can you share an instance where you dealt with an upset customer and how you resolved it?
- Tell me about how you approached a situation with an irate customer and how you resolved the issue.
