Software Engineer Intern
So after I applied, a recruiter reached out for a quick call to chat about me and why I'm interested in working there. It's a good idea to look up the company beforehand to show you know what they do and to have some questions ready for them. This can also help with the later interview with the engineers. If they like you, they'll send an email inviting you to a technical interview and a video call with the recruiter and the intern team. During this call, the recruiter will go over the contract, and you can ask any questions you have about it. There's just one technical interview round, and if you did okay, meaning you got through the coding tasks even if it took a bit longer, and could explain your thought process and past experiences with examples, you might get a call a few weeks later with an offer. In my experience, the interviewer called me directly, which felt more personal.
- Can you describe a challenging task you faced in a project and how you overcame it?
- Could you tell us about a project you've worked on during your university studies?
- Which university courses have you found most engaging, and what were your reasons?
Software Engineer
They sent an algorithm challenge that I could do on my own time, using a Java class with a method skeleton and unit tests. They checked both correctness and style. Then, they had me solve a similar challenge at their office, and we also talked about experience and personality. They also had me come in to discuss the design and style of some working code they sent beforehand. There was also another talk about personality fit. It was a really positive experience, but they can stop the process if you don't seem like a cultural fit, so your experience might be different.
- Can you discuss alternative solutions for the code?
- What are your thoughts on the design patterns used in the code?
- Are there any other points you'd like to discuss regarding the code?
Software Engineer
So I had this homework first. Then they set up a timeslot for me in the middle of the day, but I asked if it could be moved to 8 AM any day. They said they start at 9 AM, so it wasn't possible. Weeks later, they scheduled me for 8 AM. After a 2-hour interview, they told me they were looking for a full-stack developer. I was really disappointed.
- Can you share how you decided on your elementary and high school?
