The interview process has 4 stages. First, an HR Call which is a casual chat to align your experiences with the job description. Second, a User Interview with the Direct Manager, also a casual chat about experiences and connecting with the job description. Third, another User Interview focusing on more high-level thinking. Fourth, a User Interview with the Head of Department, also focused on high-level thinking. The interview is nice, but they schedule it via WhatsApp and often give only one day's notice, so be prepared. I wish they could schedule interviews two days in advance.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

This was the most confusing and weird interview I've ever been in! There was no clear communication about what to expect. The HR didn't even tell me about the responsibilities of the intern role. They just asked how long I could intern, then sent an email with the position title and interview schedule without explaining the job role or checking if I could make the interview. Because of this, I was asked questions I wasn't prepared for, as they expected me to be a mind-reader and predict their business strategies. I suspect they just scheduled the interview because I mentioned graduating from an overseas institution, without even looking at my resume. The HR was unprofessional, 20 minutes late, and canceled the second interview without a proper explanation. Instead of wasting my time with a video call at 2 am GMT and a user interview at 4 am GMT, they could have given me an online assessment or been upfront about the roles to see if I was a good fit. It was a very poor first impression for a large, progressive company.

Behavioral Technical

For future interns, there are two interview rounds. The first round is primarily behavioral, focusing on your understanding of Tokopedia and its business operations. The second round is with your direct supervisor and has a technical component. You should be prepared to discuss revenue generation, marketing campaign strategies, and key performance indicators (KPIs). The interviews are pretty standard, and the interviewers are usually helpful, guiding you to feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and answers.
