Software Engineer
It started with a phone screen, then I went for a four-hour in-house interview. This onsite was split into six segments, and I met with seven people in total, some one-on-one and some in pairs. Everyone was nice, welcoming, and professional. Most of them were easy to talk to when asking questions and were open to answering my questions. I learned that they think they have a mature "Scrum process", but it seems like they've just rebranded the old PMI project-based way of doing things. People tend to be specialized and work in their own little worlds. The code is often not in a good state because they don't deliver a potentially shippable product increment each "Sprint". They seem more focused on hitting deadlines and finishing tasks than on delivering value or quality. Their branching strategy is pretty complicated, kind of like GitFlow.
- Could you explain how to deep copy an object in C#?
Software Engineer
It was a 4-hour interview process. I got to spend time with a lot of different people so they could get to know me. I found the whole thing to be challenging but also enjoyable. I even got to speak with the VP of the department.
- I was asked to locate a bug in some older code that was printed out on about 12 pages. The focus was on my process of searching for the bug rather than just finding it.
Software Engineer
I applied online. The first step was an HR screening where they asked about my background, skills, and why I was interested in the job. Then, I had an interview with the hiring manager, which focused on behavioral questions rather than technical ones. The final step was a technical interview with the team.
- Have you ever used Tobii products?
- What programming languages do you know?
- Can you describe a time you dealt with conflict in a previous team?
