First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Toast Inc.
BDR
Went through the online application and then had a quick call with HR. It felt rushed and I didn't get into any real details. I was supposed to have a second round of interviews, but the first person I spoke with was really unwelcoming, which turned me off. The first impression is key, and they represent the company. It's kind of funny because they have this toast talent community on LinkedIn, but nobody from the company interacts there or acknowledges anyone posting. So what's the point? Whoever is managing hiring and the community needs a review, especially considering the past year's reviews from interviews and employees. Good luck.
- Can you share an example of a difficult sale you managed?
Business Development Representative
The interview process involves three steps. First, there's a phone screening with a recruiter. Then, you'll have an interview with the hiring manager, which will include role-playing and behavioral questions. Finally, there's a panel interview with a BDR manager and a Sales Development manager where they'll ask behavioral questions. After that, you'll interview with a BDR from the team to see if you'd be a good fit for the group.
- What drives your interest in a sales career?
- Can you share some questions you use to uncover a lead's pain points?
- What's your approach to prioritizing leads for initial contact?
BDR
It was a typical Sales interview with behavioral questions. Started with a phone call that went through what the role was and telling them a bit about myself. The second call had a mock phone call where they helped me through what I was doing wrong and right. Then an in-person interview with two hiring managers. Had to bring a prospecting email in.
- Can you share an instance of your toughest criticism and how you handled it?
- Tell me about the role and yourself.
- Can you do a mock phone call?
