Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TNTP.

I had one short phone interview. After that, I was asked to complete a very long task, which took me upwards of 20 hours. After submitting the task, I was rejected with no feedback. I get the point of interview tasks and I'm fine doing them, but TNTP's tasks are way too much work to be given as a second interview step without any feedback.

The interview process was quite involved. It started with an HR screening, followed by a performance-based assignment that needed to be completed within 48 hours. After that, I had three interviews with my potential manager and senior management. During these interviews, I was presented with different scenarios and asked how I would respond.
- What draws you to this particular role?
- Describe your approach to handling a client who is both upset and disorganized.

I had an initial prescreening interview that lasted about 45 minutes. Then I was asked to do a hiring exercise which they said would take 3-4 hours, but it actually ended up taking 10 hours. This work involved using real district data and potential leads for consulting work. After submitting the exercise, I received a rejection email stating they were moving forward with other candidates, with no specific reasons given. It felt like a really bad interview experience, especially since it seems hard to get in without knowing someone already. The interviews also seemed like a formality, with internal candidates already lined up. It felt more like a legal check than a genuine hiring process. I wouldn't recommend it.
