It began with a quick phone call where they asked standard questions, nothing too difficult. Then, there was an in-person meeting that was more like a demonstration of the job's tasks. If you're willing to work hard, communicate well, bounce back from challenges, and be efficient, you'll do great.

The supervisor for the area you'd work in will call you for an interview. It'll be at one of the main stores on your route. After the interview, they'll say they have more people to see and will get back to you within a week. If the regional manager calls you, you'll train with them for 2 weeks. After training, you're on your own. If you weren't paying attention during training, there's no one to ask if you get stuck. You can call the regional manager before 5 pm if you've worked the stores before, because they leave after 5 pm and no one's available to help. The surveys are a pain and must be done by Tuesday night, or you'll get a call chewing you out.

A recruiter reached out via email about a Retail Merchandiser role after I had started an application but not finished it. The email outlined the stores I'd cover, weekly hours, and pay of $10/hr, asking me to finish the application if interested. After completing it, I received an email the next day to schedule a phone interview, which happened a few days later. The interviewer was friendly and asked for a summary of my background with some casual chat. Two days after that, I met the District Supervisor at a Walmart for an in-person walkthrough, where they demonstrated the merchandising tasks. We chatted casually, and by the end of the hour, they asked about my continued interest, availability, and ability to lift and carry magazine bins. After providing my personal information, I was able to start two days later.
