General Manager
First, you'll have a quick call with HR to chat about your background, why you want this job, and if you're a good fit. If that goes well, you'll talk more with the hiring manager about your experience, problem-solving style, and teamwork. Depending on the role, there might be a skills test or assignment to see how you'd do the actual work. Lastly, you could meet with team members or bosses to see if you'd fit in and if your career plans match what they need. If everything checks out, you'll get an offer, or they might give you feedback if not.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you want to apply for this specific position?
- Describe your approach to solving problems.
General Manager
A corporate recruiter reached out because they saw my resume online. We had a quick initial phone chat, then scheduled another call. The second call was about 20 minutes, where the recruiter detailed the job. After I expressed strong interest, they set up a third phone interview where standard interview questions were asked. Following that, I took an online assessment. Next, the recruiter arranged an in-person interview with the regional manager. However, upon arriving at the store, the RM was still at lunch with colleagues, which was quite off-putting. He arrived 15 minutes late, and the interview itself was very short, only 10-15 minutes. I was warned he'd be 'hard to read,' but he mostly came across as unpleasant and a bit unprofessional. About a week after the in-person meeting, the original recruiter called to offer me the job.
- How would you approach growing the business using external marketing strategies?
General Manager
It was a pretty easy and simple process. They asked straightforward questions about customer service, how I would fit in, my management experience, reasons for leaving my last job, and my thoughts on growth, ending with a 'sell yourself' type question.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- What makes you a good fit for this position?
- Could you describe your management experience?
