Software Engineer
Since the HR person was out of town, I first interviewed with the engineering manager. It went really well, and they followed up saying they enjoyed our chat and that I passed the technical part. A few days later, HR scheduled a call. The HR rep asked some super basic questions, like about where I'd want to live if I moved, the kind of stuff that doesn't even need notes, and she didn't take any. That call was also positive and wrapped up quickly, maybe 5 minutes. Right after, I got another email from her asking my age, which is 27. A few days after that, I received a rejection email. I suspect they thought I was too old for a mid-level software engineering role.
- Regarding relocation, what city would you prefer to live in?
Software Engineer
The interview process was really quick and efficient. They didn't make us spend the whole week on the case. The interviewers were good at communicating and helped out when needed. After a 30-minute HR chat, there were 3 main steps: first, we discussed the case and its details. Then, a technical interview happened, and finally, a cultural fit discussion. Each of these took about an hour. Overall, it was a smooth and speedy process.
- Regarding your solution, what would be the system design?
- What potential bottlenecks might arise in that system design?
Software Engineer
First, there was a call with a recruiter to talk about general expectations, introduce myself, and learn more about the position and company. Then, I had a technical assignment to complete within a week. After that, I had a call with an engineering manager for a more technical discussion about the role and its challenges. Finally, there were three technical interviews in one day: the first with two engineers to discuss the assignment, the second with two other engineers on general technical topics, and the last with two managers.
- Could you detail, as much as possible, the sequence of events when a website address is entered into a browser and the enter key is pressed?
