First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Time Inc..
Intern
I was emailed about a phone interview, but the interviewer was late. Then I was told to email if I could make it to a face-to-face interview in London. I emailed, but it got lost, so I had to email again and then had a rushed interview with only 3 days to sort out my travel and hotel. The interview was in a meeting room at the Blue Fin Building with two friendly team members. I had to prepare a 2-slide presentation: the first slide was a SWOT analysis of two social media platforms I picked, and the second was about recent Instagram updates (I chose Instagram because I said it was my favorite on the phone). They also asked general questions about the work environment, daily tasks, and if I could relocate to London. The interview lasted about an hour. They said they'd call me in 3 days, win or lose, but it's been 3 weeks with no word, so I guess I didn't get it. Communication was really bad.
- Could you present a SWOT analysis on a brand's social channels, using at least one slide and covering a minimum of two social channels, like Facebook and Twitter?
Intern
They were very nice and wanted to know about your past experience and what you want to achieve from this internship. They explained the role you would have and asked if you had any further questions. Pretty generic.
- What do you expect out of this internship?
Intern
I started with an online recorded interview where I had to answer three questions, each with a 1:30 minute time limit. After that, I had a 30-minute phone interview with my potential direct supervisor, an editor, focusing on skills relevant to the job.
- Can you describe your previous experience collaborating with editors?
