First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tim Hortons.
Assistant Store Manager
It was a pretty basic interview. They asked about availability and work history. Nothing too tough. Given the high turnover in fast-food, it looks like they were looking for someone dependable and capable. My advice is straightforward: be punctual, avoid extreme appearances (no crazy piercings or face tattoos), and asking about drug testing is a no-go. If you can't pass, don't bother applying.
- What are your available working hours?
Store Manager
I got an interview at Tim Hortons through a family friend who said they were hiring. The interview questions were really straightforward, focusing on customer service and hypothetical scenarios. After getting hired, new team members have to watch over 8 hours of training videos that cover Tim Hortons standards and policies, which are pretty helpful, so you should pay attention. I started out as a supervisor and then moved up to store manager, picking up a lot of experience and meeting good people along the way.
- Imagine your alarm failed and you were two hours late for work, and a staff member called out sick while there was a line of customers. How would you handle this situation?
Store Manager
I talked to the owner on a Friday and they mentioned the restaurant needed help with customer service. Then, the owner called me on the following Monday for a second interview. They mentioned I'd get a raise in July and a bonus if things went well. I accepted the offer on Tuesday and started two weeks after. It's been 1.5 years and I haven't received the raise or bonuses.
- Given that the management at the time lacked customer service skills, how would you improve that situation?
