Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tillys.
Sales
It was a fast-paced interview. They didn't ask any well-prepared questions. The manager was rude and had an attitude, seeming unprofessional from the start. They didn't greet me nicely or smile.
- Can you describe your style and what you feel most comfortable with?
Sales Lead
I applied for a lead position and ended up getting offered an assistant manager role because of my past experience before Tilys. The interview process was pretty straightforward and pretty easy. First, you talk to the store manager at the location you want to work at. If they think you're a good fit, you'll then interview with the district manager. The store manager asks basic questions about managing and your background. The district manager asks more book-smart questions, a bit tougher but answerable if you have experience. Both the store manager and district manager are nice, energetic people looking for good people for the company.
- Can you share an example of a tough situation you faced and how you successfully handled it?
- Tell me about a challenging situation from your retail career that you managed to overcome.
Sales
It was a group interview with me and two other people. We were asked about ourselves and our previous work experience. Then we were asked a series of behavioral questions. We were also given an item of clothing and asked to sell it to our interviewer.
- Can you tell me about a time you made a mistake?
