I had an initial call with HR, and then a follow-up call with the hiring manager. There were supposed to be more steps, but after talking to the hiring manager, I realized this wasn't the right fit for me. They were really dismissive and arrogant, even though they didn't seem to understand the technology. I was initially excited about the role because the technology is so interesting, but my mental health comes first.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had an initial chat with TA, then met with the hiring manager and another manager. Things were going well, but then the job was put on hold because it needed to be rewritten. After a 3.5-week wait, I was told I was still moving forward. I then met with senior leadership and had a brief 15-minute chat with the CEO, where I highlighted my strengths as advised. Four people in the company thought I would be a great fit and successful. The CEO found me qualified but then asked TA to interview more candidates for comparison. Three weeks later, I got the standard rejection email saying they found someone who fit the job description better. This whole process started in August and involved a lot of my time researching, prepping, and interviewing. It felt like a waste and makes me question the company culture. I'll look elsewhere for a place that values employees and recognizes my passion for learning. My gain, your loss.

Behavioral Technical Coding

So when I interviewed in late 2023, there were 5 interviews. This might be different now. First, a recruiter call, about 15 minutes on the phone in Week 1, this was behavioral. Then, an interview with the CEO, 30 minutes in Week 2, they asked some behavioral questions and about 1 technical question. After that, an interview with the Solution Engineer Manager, lasted 1 hour in Week 2, mostly behavioral, I mostly asked him about his work at TigerGraph. Next, a Technical Interview with the Solution Engineer Team Lead, 1 hour in Week 3, mostly technical, we did Leetcode-style questions in Google Docs where I wrote some Python code, but we didn't run it. The questions were kind of related. Finally, an interview with the VP of Product, 30 minutes in Week 4, this was behavioral. All interviews except the recruiter call were remote via Zoom. Two interviewers were super late, like 15 minutes. I know now that sometimes people have important meetings that run over. The recruiter was good at checking in, I just had to text him when an interviewer was like 5-10 mins late. The whole process was pretty fast for me, maybe because they needed to hire fast and I was flexible with my start date. It took about 20 days from applying to the first offer. The recruiter contacted me the same day I applied. From the initial offer to starting, it was about 4 weeks because I was in another interview loop. After I accepted, there was a 2-week gap until my start date. I really liked how the recruiter kept in touch and answered my questions. Overall, it was a positive interview experience and I'm happy I joined TigerGraph.

The first part was a recruiter call, which seemed to go okay. I was then supposed to have a second interview with the hiring manager. The interviewer was really late, showing up 30 minutes after the scheduled time, saying they thought it was an hour later. It turned out to be a technical interview, and I wasn't told beforehand or prepared for it. Also, it was super hard to understand the interviewer, and the whole interview felt really awkward. Honestly, it was probably the worst interview experience I've ever had.
